Back to School Shopping at Family Service’s New Thrift Store

As you’ve probably heard, Family Service, Inc made a monumental move this past spring. The non-profit organization that has served this community for over 100 years, made the move from its home of 30 years in downtown Billings' North Side to the far more spacious quarters located at 3927-3931 1st Avenue South.

In their new facility, Family Service was able to expand all of their services, including the Thrift Store. Development Director, Karla Stricker tells us that the expansion of the Thrift Store has allowed for more items to be showcased for purchase, including lightly used – or even new – furniture, clothing, and household items. The merchandise is beautifully displayed and easy to find in this new store that is vibrant and welcoming.

With back to school shopping dominating the thoughts of virtually every family with school-aged children, Family Service’s Thrift Store offers excellent bargains to help stretch those dollars. Stricker notes that their prices speak for themselves, “we ensure that our prices are below what you find in any other thrift store.” She adds that the clothing is nearly new and reasonably priced.

When asked if the facility also includes school supplies, Stricker says that “Yes, typically we try to stock our store with items needed for every season of shopping.”

In the Family Service Clothing Quarter, everything is 50 cents or less!

There are coats, shoes, kids clothes and a wonderful selection of clothing for men and women of all ages, shapes and sizes. Shop it often!

No one is ever turned away due to inability to pay. Please see one of the intake specialists if you need a voucher to purchase items in the clothing quarter.

Monday – Friday: 9am-5:30pm
Saturday: 9am-3pm
Closed Sundays

84,000 items are distributed at low-to-no cost through their Clothing Quarter
Thrift Store sales account for 25% of Family Service’s annual operating budget
