Did you know that one in three pets will go missing in their lifetime?
If your pet should ever go missing, there are things you can do to help ensure that your fur family member finds their way home: make sure they are equipped with a collar and ID tag, along with an up-to-date microchip.
Not sure if you have that last piece of the safety puzzle in place? Swing by Yellowstone Valley Animal Shelter on October 19 where they will check your pet for a microchip for free. If your pet already has a chip, they can provide you with the animal’s ID number and chip manufacturer (to ensure the microchip has your correct info). Walk-in microchipping is also available for $20 – registration included. Microchipping only takes a couple of minutes and requires no sedation.
YVAS also has a Pet ID Engraver onsite, for $10 you can also go home with up-to-date tags for your dog or cat. The Shelter notes that microchips are important (pets with microchips are 20 times more likely to be reunited with their owners), but ID tags are often the fastest way to reunite lost animals.
