August 2, 2019 | by savannah traywick

August might shockingly already be here, but there are summer adventures still to be had! As we prepare to get into back-to-school mode, let's not forget we still have a whole month left of summer! If you are looking for ways to round out your summer bucket list with great memories, we’ve got 5 fun, local adventures to have with your family before we bid summer a fond farewell!

5 Must-Do End of Summer Adventures

1. Road trip:

A classic adventure with family is a road trip. Depending on your needs as a family this could be somewhere close by, or a longer drive for a couple nights stay. Taking a day trip to Bozeman to see the Museum of the Rockies, or taking a couple days to camp at Yellowstone National Park are both super fun road trips. This is an opportunity to be a tourist in another city in our great state! Being in a car for a while with family can often feel like a daunting feat. Remember to create a fun playlist of road tunes, pack some yummy snacks, download an audio book, play car games, or catch up on the way there!

2. Hiking:

With Montana’s beautiful views, and close by trails, an easy way to get outside this summer is to go on a hike! Some common trails in Billings are Four Dances Trail, Zimmerman Back 9, walking Norms Island, Phipps Park Trail, Chief Black Otter Trail, and the Pictograph Cave State Park Trail. 3. Outdoor Movie:

A great way to relax together as a family is to go see a movie - even better if it’s under the stars at the drive-in! The Amusement Park Drive-In Theatre is located at, 7335 Mossmain Ln, Billings, MT 59106. It is a great local business that helps in bringing affordable fun to summer! Each week they show new movies, have affordable ticket prices, and have a Snack Barn right on site! Grab some cozy sweats, big blankets and pillows and go watch a movie under the stars! One local summer event in Billings that brings in visitors from all over, is MontanaFair on the MetraPark grounds. Running August 9th- 17th at 308 6th Ave N Billings, MT. This summertime staple (that signals the beginning of the end of summer fun), has something for every member of the family.
