Easy Summer Treats: “Magic” Nutella Milkshakes

My littles are addicted to Nutella. I don’t know what they put in that stuff, but it’s basically Toddler Cat Nip. We eat it (in some shape or form) at least a couple of times a week. You feel me? In the summertime — because it’s so dang hot in Texas — I am always on the lookout for cold, delicious treats that we can make at home. I like this recipe because it doesn’t require ice cream. (I am addicted to ice cream, so I try not to keep it in the house. Otherwise I will turn into a giant marshmallow of a human being. I could eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And I wouldn’t feel the slightest bit ashamed.) Why is this milkshake magical, you ask? This milkshake is magical because it keeps my children from whining. For at least five to 10 minutes. And when you have three (girls) under four, you celebrate small victories.

Here’s how you make it.

This recipe is so easy it’s ridiculous. Add two cups of milk, three-fourths cup sugar, four tablespoons Nutella, a heaping teaspoon of vanilla, and twelve ice cubes to a blender. Blend until just combined. Pour immediately into glasses. Feel free to garnish with rainbow sprinkles, whip cream, and whatever your little heart desires. Drink immediately, and try not to think about the calories. It’s better that way for everyone.

This is a great recipe to get the kiddos involved. There’s no cutting, no dicing, and no hot appliances to avoid — just a simple summer treat. What more could you ask for?
