Parmly Billings Library: Closing the doors for the last time

As the city of Billings prepares for the exciting new adventure of opening a brand new – from the ground up – library for the first time in over 100 years, it also means closing the doors of Parmly Billings Library for a final time.

On Friday, December 13, 2013 Parmly Billings Library will close its doors to the public for the last time at 6pm.

The following morning movers will arrive to begin the transitioning of materials into the new Billings Public Library. The library will be closed throughout the holidays, with the new library opening to the public on Monday, Jan. 6, 2014 from 10am-7pm. (The official dedication of the Billings Public Library will take place on Feb. 1, 2014).

Coping with the library being closed:

  • Due dates will be extended while the library’s closed. Items checked out from the downtown library that have due dates during the closure will be due Jan. 31, 2014.
  • The Community Library at the City College Campus will be open for its regular hours, however with the semester break they’ll also be closed during a portion of the library’s closure.
  • The Bookmobile will be running at least part of the time, says Dee Ann Redman Billings Public Library Assistant Director.
  • Returns – During the closure you can return items to the outside drop at the main library; at Community Library at CityCollege located at 3803 Central Avenue, use the outside book drop or return items inside; or the Bookmobile, at any regularly scheduled stop.
