Five (Winter) Fashion Finds for Babe

Is your wee one a mini fashionista? Just because the temperatures have dropped, doesn’t mean your little one has to sacrifice style. Dressing up baby for winter in the Treasure State doesn’t have to be a chore, it can be quite fun! Playing “dress up” with my sweet little Savannah (our three-month-old) is quickly becoming one of my favorite stay at home mommy activities. (Posing her for dozens of pictures and then posting them to Facebook to the bewilderment of my still childless friends is a close second.) Needless to say, I am constantly on the lookout for (mostly) affordable, fashionable finds for our little cutie.

What I have found is that when preparing baby to venture out into the cool Montana air, the key is to layer up—that way your little one will always be comfortable (you can remove some of the layers once you get indoors as needed, so little Suzie or Johnny doesn’t get too warm). Think Ralphie’s little brother in “A Christmas Story” but much, much cuter. Remember that abominable snowman-esque outfit his mother sent him to school in? And just in case you need a little extra help, I have rounded up a few of my favorite infant finds that are sure to keep your newest addition on the Best Dressed Baby List this wintery season. Check them out below, and happy shopping mommy friends!

Heads and fingers, knees and toes

It is imperative to keep baby’s head, hands, and toes toasty warm during the long Montana winter. I was delighted to find these adorable, furry mittens and matching hat from Magnificent Baby. Available at the Joy of Kids (in Billings’ west end), the cute little cap features a magnetic closure. Choose from winter white, hot pink, or brown. Prices range from $13.99 to $15.99. They also offered matching booties, in a variety of sizes. Baby Savannah loves her cap and mittens! Doesn’t she look like a teddy bear?

A fashionable overcoat

For the Girls. I just adore this beautiful, wool, A-line coat with bow detail in back from Gap Kids. Pictured here in Tannery, this sweet little coat is available in stores and online (at www.gapkids.com) in sizes 0 to 24 months, for $49.95. Classic, chic, and timeless; everything you hope your little girl will grow up to be…

For the Little Guys. How stinking handsome is this Infant Denali Jacket from The North Face? Pictured here in Jake Blue/Deep Water Blue, it is also available in Fiery Red and TNF Black. Available at www.thenorthface.com for $69, in sizes 0 to 24 months. With this jacket your little man will be the coolest kid in his play group, hands down! As if he wasn’t already…

Shoes, Shoes, Shoes

Baby Minnetonkas?! No, you are not dreaming—they do indeed exist—and are available at Crew Cuts (www.jcrew.com)! The Minnetonka Baby Fringe Booties ($19.95) are pictured here, but other available styles include the Baby Tied Shearling Bootie ($33.95) and the Baby Shearling Bootie ($29.95). Available in sizes 3 to 12 months. Function and fashion; is it just me, or are babies dressed as miniature adults the most adorable thing ever?

His and Hers New Favorite Blankies

For the Girls. The OIOI Weegoamigo blanket in Giraffe. Stripes, colors, and giraffes…what more could a little princess-in-training ask for? Baby Savannah has a Weegoamigo blanket (in Pink Stampede) and she loves it—it goes almost everywhere with us! Available in many more styles online at www.laylagrayce.com ($80).

For the Little Guys. The OIOI Weegoamigo blanket in Dino Convoy. A handsome stroller blanket for your baby boy—he is sure to love the bright colors and fun patterns! Plus, it will keep him warm on long car rides to and from Grandma’s house and is perfect for tummy time. Available at www.laylagrayce.com ($80).

Bundled Transport

Worried about baby’s comfort from the parking lot to the grocery store? The JJ Cole Bundle Me Carseat Cover is the perfect solution! Perfect for everywhere you and baby go. Pictured here is the Urban Infant with Thermaplush in Plumberry (for the girls) and in Sprout (for the boys). I will have you know that these are very fashionable, “on trend” colors for the season. Also available in other colors and weights at www.diapers.com ($49.95). Warmth to go!
