Dreaming of Summertime

For some reason I have been dreaming of the lazy days of summer vacation, the smell of sunscreen on little boys, the sunshine--long days and the sticky treats that take me back to childhood.  {In reality, I dream of summer, so I can boot my boys outside, and not have to hear them screaming Star Wars quotes in the basement.} Anyhow, on a particularly cold day last week, I needed a mood booster, so I started snooping on Pinterest........(Oh how I love) and I found a recipe for these creamy, dreamy treats.

I love dreamcicles, they're my favorite summer treat, but rather than follow her recipe exactly, I did a little tweaking, and here is what I came up with (FYI, her recipe is MUCH lower in fat and calories than mine........but honestly, I don't really care.)  Here is my variation of her recipe!

Dream Cicle Milkshake

1 container of Hawaii's Own Mango-Orange Juice concentrate

1 Orange (cut in half)

1/4 cup milk

1 tsp. vanilla extract

2-3 (or 10-11) scoops vanilla ice cream.

Ice (only if the mixture is too thin)

Dump the juice concentrate, splash of milk and juice from the orange into the blender.  Add the sugar; and give it a whirl in the blender.  After the mixture is incorporated, add the ice cream and teaspoon of vanilla.  Give it another 30-seconds in the blender.  If the consistency is too thin, add a handful of ice cubes, and blend one last time.

Pour into glasses and drink ASAP (this will make 4-small shakes, 2-medium sized shakes, or one Jessica-sized shake.)  Or if you really want the full dreamcicle experience, place the mixture into popcicle molds, or an ice cube tray; and freeze for several hours.

Prepare to be whisked away to a tropical paradise (even when the weather is gloomy.)

Aloha!
