Easy Advent Ideas

It's December 1st and if you’re getting ready for Christmas and you want to put together an advent calendar for the kids, here are four easy ones to do in a hurry with material you already have around your house.

Santa’s Beard Advent Calendar

Children will have fun counting down the days until Christmas by watching Santa's beard grow with this Santa advent calendar craft. Download and print the Santa illustration courtesy of Kaboose here. http://crafts.kaboose.com/santa.pdf.

You will need crayons, 25 cotton balls, and glue.

Color Santa’s face and hat. You could also cut out the picture and glue it onto a colorful piece of construction paper to make it sturdier. Beginning on December 1st, glue a cotton ball onto the circle marked 1. On December 2nd, add another cotton ball on spot 2, and so on, until the 24th, when Santa’s beard will be complete!

Christmas Tree Paper Rings

To make this advent calendar, tape paper strips around one another in the form of a tree. You may have to look at this photo to see how it was done.

Christmas Book Advent

Gather 25 children’s books (preferably Christmas books) or books you haven’t read, or maybe even consider swapping some books with a friend or get some at the thrift store. Wrap all 25 of them in Christmas paper and let the kids pick a new book to unwrap each night.
