The play that has been described as “…the greatest American play ever written,” Our Town, is making its way to the stage at NOVA Center for the Performing Arts, for the first time in the theater’s history. Thornton Wilder’s theatrical masterpiece is being directed by Dan Nickerson and is a self-described passion project that he has been looking forward to putting his own spin on, with a cast comprised of adult and high school actors. The audience will have an immersive experience, as Alley Seating will be utilized, which involves having audience members on opposite sides of the stage.
Our Town follows the small town of Grover’s Corners through three acts: “Daily Life,” “Love and Marriage,” and “Death and Eternity.” Narrated by a stage manager and performed with minimal props, audiences follow the Webb and Gibbs families as their children fall in love and marry. The story, eventually, culminates in one of the most famous scenes in American theater.
Tickets: $21/adult, $16/senior/military, $10/students.
