Here Comes Baby! 10 fun ways to announce baby gender

CONGRATULATIONS! YOU’RE HAVING A BABY!

Now here’s the burning question: how will you make the big announcement? The rise of social media has had an interesting impact on familial announcements. Don’t you think? Gone are the days when you could just make a quick phone call to family and friends announcing your pregnancy or the sex of baby. Well, I guess you could still do it this way, but many modern mommies and daddies are getting a little more creative. And why not? We think this is awesome! What a fun memory to make and look back on years from now. But you don’t have to spend a lot to make a big impact. So before you hire that skywriter, check out 10 of our favorite gender reveal ideas!

We Heart Confetti…

How adorable are these custom confetti push pops we found on Thimblepress  for just $10.50? These are perfect for both a gender reveal party, and gender reveal photos!

And Glitter!

A little bit of glitter (in either blue or pink) is an inexpensive and celebratory way to share the big news! So easy, and so cute. Image via kissable complexions.com.

Say it with a Tee Shirt.

We LOVE these gender reveal tee shirts from Baby Chick ($30). Available in both “It’s a Boy” and “It’s a Girl” styles. This was my announcement for Baby Tomes Number Three!

Or a game of Scrabble.

We found this custom Scrabble announcement on Etsy for just $10. Hashtag, winning.

Dress up that ultrasound picture.

This is probably one of the simplest ideas, but still totally adorable. And easily adaptable for either a baby boy or a baby girl.  Don’t you think? Image via asmallsnippet.com.

Or chew some bubble gum.

I don’t know about you guys, but I will never be tired of the bubble gum gender reveal photos. Hashtag, sorry I’m not sorry. If you do choose to hire a professional photographer to help you with your announcement, you could even combine several of these ideas! Image via theletterbphotography.com.

Play the “baby lottery.”

These baby gender reveal scratch off cards from Etsy could not be more perfect for a gender reveal party. They are also fun for photos. Or, mail them out to family and friends, and ask everyone to record themselves revealing the gender. Then compile everyone’s reactions into one video. Talk about an incredible keepsake!

Hang a banner…

This “It’s a Boy” banner from Etsy could not be more adorable. How precious would you be holding it in front of your little bitty bump? Bonus: you can reuse it for your shower, and maybe even in the nursery!

Blow up some balloons.

Similar to the “It’s a Boy” banner idea from above. Also from Etsy. Are you noticing a trend here? Wink. Message balloons are our favorite!

And don’t forget to include big brother (or sister) in the fun!

Does the new baby have a big brother or sister? This is one of the sweetest ways to make an announcement that we have seen. Image via helloerin.com. There are lots of fun variations on this idea. Try searching “sibling gender reveal” on Pinterest. Your family and friends are sure to love whatever you come up with — don’t be afraid to have fun and get creative!

How did you make your pregnancy and gender reveal announcements? Feel free to tell us all about it in the comments section below. Or better yet, share them to our wall on Facebook. We’d love to see what you came up with!
